As the 2018/2019 season is coming to a close we have been putting things in place this season so everyone can play hockey no matter the age or experience.
We are also looking at giving players the opportunity to push them self’s by playing in an older age group.
Most of the Lions under 14’s Junior side are 12 or under and have been playing up an age group and some of them 2 age groups.
We have also given some of our older Junior players time to train and play with our Senior players this season. We have decided to do this to help them progress playing at a senior level. Some of them will be playing in the Summer Cup we are holding next month.
Lions Senior side has also seen growth in player turn out so we are now looking to see if we can get enough players to play in a 2nd team for the 2019/2020 season.
We are also looking at pushing women’s hockey and we have taken part in our 1st women’s tournament On the Rocks and we look to carry on building the team over the next few months ready for October and to play in the Saltire Cup in Dundee as well as some other events that are being planned throughout the year.
Our senior side also has quite a few 30+ players and we have been in talks with other leagues and teams about looking at taking part in vets competitions over the next 12 months.
Lastly to complete the time line we are going right back to the beginning where we think this should all start. Lions are working on starting a toddler hockey session. This will be a trial over the summer holidays but if we feel we can make this a weekly session we will look to hold it every Saturday morning or we will look to hold the event every school holidays.
Lions feel that we need to focus most on both the toddler and Junior part of sport to bring through the next generation of players to help make the awareness of the sport a lot bigger than it is today. we also want to help grow the sport in the North West.
If you would like any more information or would like to Join Lions for any of our training sessions send us a message via our contact us page.
