With the changes we have made to the Junior training session on a Saturday we have also decided to make some changes to the Thursday night session to help accept a wide variety of skill levels we have been getting to this session.
The 1st change we are making will be to have more coaches in the session with Dave Chambers, David Mosley & James Allatt all looking at helping carry out the drills on a Thursday night.
The 2nd change we are going to make is to split the training session into 2 skill sets.
We will start the session off with a simple drill to be carried out by all players who come to the training session and the coaches will be watching every player and looking at their skill set in this drill. After this drill has been completed the group will be split into two groups.
One group will then work on one side of the rink going through simple drills to help slow the play down and work on the basics of inline hockey.
The other group will work on the other side of the rink with more advanced drills and working on game situations and a faster pace than the basic drills.
The coaches of each side will look to move people around as they see improvement throughout the session or if people struggling.
We will then end the session on a 20 to 30 minute scrummage looking to put in place the drills we have been going through during the training session and the teams will be mixed having the beginner and experienced players working together.
We want to make the training session for everyone to come down and enjoy and we feel by doing this it will be the best way to include all types of players and also help get more people into the sport.
