April sees Lions grow with a new coach and players

April has again been a busy month for Lions and has seen our senior side grow and our coaching staff.

Flaming Skulls played their 1st tournament together and made it through to the 3rd vs 4th final. Flaming skulls were also the only team to beat Angels who went on to win the tournament.

We are now looking to enter the Flaming Skulls in the Saltire Cup taking part in Dundee on the 26th/27th of October. If you would like to come and join Flaming Skulls for this Tournament just send James a message via our contact us page.

Our Junior team now has a new coach Jodie Woodhams.

Jodie has been with the club for just over 12 months but has been nothing but supportive with our Junior players and our coach James. Jodie wanted to help coach the junior team which will now enable us to do different types of drills depending on the players position and expireance.

James is looking forward to working with Jodie and Jodie can’t wait to start helping the Junior players at training.

The Junior Star of the Month went to Finley Kelly who played his 1st 4 games for the under 14’s Junior Lions team and managed 2 assists and 2 goals in the 4 games.

Lions also announced that we are looking at holding a toddler session for 6 weeks over the summer holidays and we have had 6 parents interested so far. If you would like to join us for this session please send us a message via our contact us page.

We are looking to hold this event on a Saturday morning 9am until 10am at Ardwick Sports Hall between 23rd of July until 31st of August.

Lions senior training session also gained a few new players this month and we had 2 players join the senior team Michael Nurtney & Michael Harrison.

Lions seniors also playing on Sunday 28th of August in the West league coming away with a 2 – 1 win against Hitmen and an 11 – 4 win against Warriors & both our new Players scored goals.

Man of the match for the hitmen game went to our Netminder James Allatt and the man of the match against Warriors went to our Defender Michael Nurtney.

We now look forward to May where our Junior team has its last Rotherham game day on May 4th playing 3 of the top teams & are playing in the North West leagues on the 18th of May.

May 19th has our Senior team back in the west league against 2 teams we are fighting for a top 2 finish.
