A busy 2 months for Lions

Since our last news update earlier on in the year we have been putting things into place to help push our Female team who will be taking part in the On the rocks tournament in Market Drayton over the Easter weekend.

On the rocks is a Women’s Inline Hockey Tournament designed to help get more female players into the sport and also become a yearly tournament.

We have now decided on a name for the team which is Flaming Skulls.

We still have places for anyone who would like to come and join the team. For this team we have decided all of its players will have a choice of 2 training sessions they can attend. Saturday morning 10am until 12pm at Ardwick Sports Hall and Thursday evening 9pm until 10:30pm at Atherton Roller rink.

If anyone would like to get involved with this team please send us a message via our contact us or Facebook pages.

We also have some other projects on the go. We are in the middle of organising a mixed day tournament where both our junior and Senior teams will play at the Market Drayton rink in a under 12’s, 14’s and Senior mini tournament.

We are also still trying to build on having a under 14’s and 16’s team for next season and gained a few new players since the new year to help us reach this goal.

We have also seen a big improvement in all of our Junior players and our 2 newest members have both got on the score sheet in our 1st two North West League games.

Our Netminder recorded his 1st shut out on the same day to.

Lions also saw a great sprit within our junior team players and parents in our last Rotherham league day. The under 14’s side were short benched on the day and we also lost our Junior netminder to an accident at school. The kids still wanted to play, and Alife Kelly stepped up to go in goal against 2 of the better teams in the league. Alfie played amazing and he only had a 10-minute coaching session before the game which he never been in goal before.

Even though the team lost both the games this day all the kids came off the rink with pride and not one of them gave up even though they were tired and only had one change.

Lions are now look forward to this weekend where both our Junior and senior teams are playing in the North West and West Leagues.

Lions are always open to new players coming and joining us no matter the age or ability. We have kit to use to help players get on their feet and we will teach everyone the basics of the sport.

If you would like to come and join any of our teams then come down to any of our training session.

Junior training is at Ardwick Sports Hall on a Saturday (When we don’t have league games) between 10am and 12pm. This is for anyone who is ages 4 to 16.

Our senior training session is on a Thursday night at Atherton Roller Rink between 9pm and 10:30pm. This is for anyone aged 14+.
